Russia and CIS need own high grade mentorship programmes

Recently I reviewed encouraging news – Nastya Uryasheva enters into the Founder’s institute, backed up by Bred Feld, with her AskDroid application. This turned out to be the first russian start up accepted by US mentorship programmes.

Whereas this is very great news, what make me think is that there are so many interesting and talented people in Russia and former Soviet Union, there are huge universities, which have very good education traditions. Think of University in Novosibirsk, to my best knowledge Intel and Microsoft have been present there and get best young people.

Obviously mentorship programmes become very popular and demanded in US and Europe. My strong believe former Soviet Union countries do deserve at least couple of mentorship programmes, co-led by global high-tech stars and local experts.

Hopefully, we will be able to create something similar to TechStars here in the region.
